So Day Four

I was intending on completing this every day, but with assignments still to complete it just hasn't happened.

This week so far has been mainly observation. Its interesting how when you sit back you observe more than just classroom dynamics. I don't know if anybody else has noticed, but the dynamics of a staff room are so similar to in a classroom. Its strange to see similar behaviour both in and out of class...

Its also interesting the links students make in the classroom. In one class about nuclear radiation it was mentioned that too much radiation can cause cancer, so the students wanted to know why we use radiation therapy to treat cancer. I'd never thought about this before. Isn't it strange how they make so many links you just never think about.

I'm also learning alot about pointed questions. There are so many ways to ask pointed questions to probe students understanding. Everytime I think I am understanding what is happening, I see another teacher use them differently, which makes me sit back and think.... hmmm.....

I'm also finding it a little scary just how much of the new senior curriculum I didn't study until university. Maybe its just me but the topics seem to be getting harder. Its not too stressful, because I still feel that I have a good handle on these subjects. But it is a little daunting.

Day 4, lots of fun. Assignment is in but not very good, the pace is hectic. Helped teach some classes. Lesson planning is a luxury that no one can afford.
