Chemistry Week Four

Its annoying that I keep leaving these posts so late. I try and at least put them up before the next chem class, so seeing as this one is still four weeks away I may be safe. :)

The venn diagram task was interesting. Not only did it probe our chemistry knowledge (thanks Kate for bringing the textbook), but it also probed my knowledge about what Venn diagrams where.

Until this lesson I never had created a non-circular Venn Diagram. I had never really thought about the idea of using squares or other shapes, which make so much more sense in science.

We also started to present our curriculum units to the class this week. Unfortuantly our group didn't get time to present so we are up next time.

I think one thing that the lesson really presented to me, was the difficulty we will face as teachers. We don't always get time to finish student presentations in class. If this regularly happens in our class two things could happen. Students don't complete the topic on time because they are counting on the extra time, or students get really upset because they put the effort in to be ready on time.
